History of License number plate auction in Thailand

In Thailand, Department of Land Transport (DLT) has started the license number plate auction since August 2003, and divided to 301 lucky numbers in each alphabet-type.

The first group is all same 4-digit, and they are the most expensive, started at 1,00,000 Baht; the second group is all same few digit, single digit and pairs of 8 and 9, started at 30,000 Baht; the third group is otherwise numbers that cheapest, started at 5,000 Baht.
In Bangkok Metropolis, auction is held once or twice per month, total is 22 times; Chiang Mai and Chonburi Provinces are holding twice in one year; Nakhon Ratchasima, Songkhla, Khon Kaen, Phuket and some provinces are holding once in one year.
DLT has recorded the finish prize of one license number plate is different. For Bangkok Metropolis, highest prize is 1 Crore Baht since February 2012; Chonburi Province = 36,00,000 Baht since 2013; Chiang Mai Province = 26,00,000 Baht; Rayong Province = 25,00,000 Baht, etc.
Through now, 6 Crorepati of license number plate auction (the highest prize is 1 Crore Baht (1,00,00,000 Baht) or higher) in 5 streak years.

1AA-1111 Bangkok is the highest prize at 2,50,00,000 Baht (2.5 Crore Baht)
3AA-3333 Bangkok is the second one at 1,30,00,000 Baht (1.3 Crore Baht)
1AA-1 Bangkok is the third one at 1,20,10,000 Baht
2AA-2222 and 5AA-5555 Bangkok are the first two at 1,11,11,111 Baht
V1-9999 Bangkok is the fifth one at 1,10,00,000 Baht (1.1 Crore Baht)
V3-9999 Bangkok is the sixth one at 1,01,11,111 Baht
